With Sporting Lisbon unwilling, or not able to keep Nani on their playing staff next season, the Portuguese player will be heading back to Old Trafford.

Lisbon, so we`re told, are not able to afford the reputed £15 million transfer fee the player would cost and are unable to afford half his £110,000-a-week salary.

However, Louis van Gaal has made it clear that the 28-year-old has no future at Old Trafford and that every attempt will be made to move him on, either via a permanent sale or another loan.

This morning, in the Sunday press, it is being suggested that a solution could be at hand with Everton inquiring about taking Nani on a season long loan.

Everton had previously, so the story goes, been interested in taking Adnan Januzaj on loan but perceive Nani as a better and far more experienced option.

We`ll report further if and when more news becomes available.
