The last day of February, 2009 might go down in history as the day when Liverpool were finally forced to concede that they won’t win the title. Benitez’s team dismally lost 2-0 at Boro and unless United throw it away deliberately the Premier League might as well book the engraver to start working on the letter M.

It’s not over yet but it would be the collapse of the century if United lost it from here. We’re seven points clear with a game in hand which means that out of our remaining 12 games we’ll have to lose four (draw six, lose one and draw four etc.) games with Chelsea or Liverpool winning all their remaining fixtures.

I won’t say that’s impossible – but the chances of it are very, very, very slim. Every United win from now will be a major blow to our rivals and every point they’ll drop will represent a disaster. We must not be complacent but can afford to be calm. We’re almost there.
