Mourinho Unhappy With FA Cup Date

Yesterday (Wednesday), it was announced that Manchester United`s FA Cup Final tie, against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge, had been chosen for live coverage by the BBC.

The tie will now be played on the evening of Monday 13th March.

The date is far from convenient for Manchester United with the club scheduled to play a Europa League tie, the Thursday night after the FA Cup Quarter-Final.

With it being decreed that there will be no replays at either the quarter-final or semi-final stages of the competition, there could be some weary legs come the Europa League tie.

After the announcement had been made and after Manchester United had seen off the challenge of Saint-Etienne, Jose Mourinho had a few words to say about the decision to choose Monday evening for the tie, remarking to the media,

“I cannot play against Chelsea with the U21`s like Manchester City did last year. I cannot do that. We are Manchester United.

“I have to treat United supporters and the FA Cup in the right way.”

A clear reference to our cross-city rivals who played a very under-strength side at Stamford Bridge last season and who were consequently heavily beaten.

Continuing, Jose further added,

“I feel really surprised the decision is made before our draw in Europe because at this moment nobody knows where we play.

“Imagine we play Chelsea on Monday and go to the second match in Europe, in Russia, Turkey or Greece.”

He has a point doesn`t he!
