Against Everton, on Sunday afternoon, Manchester United`s record signing, Paul Pogba, was absent from the squad.

The 24-year-old is currently side-lined with a hamstring problem, an injury picked up in the Champions League fixture, against Basel, in midweek.

The diagnosis, following the injury, was that the Frenchman would be out of the side for up to six weeks.

Yesterday, the scare-mongering press managed to concoct a story whereby, suddenly, from being missing through injury for six weeks, it was more likely that the midfielder would be absent for a staggering 12 weeks.

However, upon hearing that supposed claim, Jose Mourinho has moved quickly to quash the rumour, remarking to the Daily Mail that the story was complete nonsense.

Thankfully that worry about Pogba being missing for twelve weeks has been eradicated.

However, I suppose it`s too much to hope that the press are brought to task over such scurrilous speculation.
