This summer Manchester United, under the leadership of Jose Mourunho, have spent somewhere in the region of £145 million on players.

Those bought in so far are:-

? Paul Pogba
? Eric Bailly
? Zlatan Ibrahimovic

and

? Henrikh Mkhitaryan

As far as those sold go, Mourinho has off-loaded Paddy McNair and Donald Love, bringing in just £5.5 million.

Therefore, it doesn`t come as too much of a surprise when the news vehicle ESPN, Click Here, is suggesting that Mourinho has been told he must sell some of those deemed surplus to requirements first if he wishes to bring in the commanding, physical defender he still wants.

The type of player Mourinho would like to see at Old Trafford, namely Raphael Varane or Leonardo Bonucci, would be another expensive purchase, with the board, so our source infers, wanting to see the books balanced a little more before further big expenditure is authorised.
