Football can be a strange game.

Take the case of Luke Shaw for an example.

Earlier this season, probably up to a few weeks ago, the defender couldn`t get anywhere near a place in the starting eleven for Manchester United.

It looked odds-on, I`d have even put some money on it, Shaw would be leaving Old Trafford in the January transfer window.

But that no seems to be far from the case.

Suddenly, the name of Luke Shaw has become very prominent on the team-sheet and a move now seems to be out of the question.

At his press conference, ahead of the trip to Turf Moor, to take on Burnley in what looks to be a tricky fixture, Jose Mourinho has praised the defender who has resurrected his career, remarking to the hacks assembled,

‘He is physically much better, mentally much stronger, tactically his understanding of the game is much better and what we need in different phases and circumstances, I’m really happy.

‘You like the transfer market, I can say that in this moment I don’t see many left-backs better than this Luke Shaw.’

Could that problematic left-back position have seen itself sorted out in, what would have been, a couple of months ago, something impossible.

Strange game football isn`t it!
