At Vicarage Road, Manchester United made heavy weather of a fixture that, at one stage, they looked to be cruising.

With seventy-seven minutes of the game played the three points looked to be heading back to Old Trafford with Manchester United leading 3-0.

But Watford had other ideas staging a comeback that saw the deficit reduced to 3-2, before Jesse Lingard calmed everybody`s nerves with a fourth goal for Manchester United.

After the game, Jose Mourinho, in speaking to the press, got it spot on when he mentioned all the chances that Manchester United missed, chances that would have put the game out of Watford`s reach, when the boss remarked,

‘The second half should have been five or six-nil, it was easier to score than the first. We missed chances,’

‘Out of nothing, they got a penalty for 3-1, then it was a different game. It was an easy match to win comfortably. At 3-2 the game is in the balance then Lingard had the initiative to kill the game.’

Manchester United, with crucial games coming up against Arsenal (a) and Manchester City (h), games that could have major ramifications as far as the Premier League title is concerned, will need to take any chances that come their way, otherwise they may live to rue what might have been.
