After seeing his side frustrated by the efforts of a determined Southampton side, Jose Mourinho was never going to have a beaming smile across his face when he spoke to the media after the game.

In fact, the interview he gave was a little tetchy with Mourinho reticent that Manchester United should have had a penalty when the ball struck the arm of Yoshida, with Jose remarking about the referee, Craig Pawson,

‘I think it is also a disappointing afternoon for Craig because he’s a fantastic referee, one of the best in Europe.

‘We missed easy chances but I’m really unhappy with the penalty, not with Pawson’s performance – Today I think Craig had a good performance, it was a big decision to make from Craig.”

Intriguing stuff from Jose, criticising the referee but not in a manner in which he`ll be charged by the Football Association.

Continuing, Mourinho had this to say about his side, further commenting,

‘I’m happy with the players’ attitude, the players’ desires and I’m very happy with my place.’

It wasn`t the best manner in which to finish 2017, hopefully better times are around the corner in 2018.
