On Monday night, when Manchester United crashed out of the FA Cup at the quarter-final stage, against Chelsea, Jose Mourinho described Paul Pogba as the best United player on the pitch.

My view is that, to put it bluntly, he wasn`t!

There were several others who put in a shift far superior to that of Paul Pogba, but maybe the gaffer is trying to ease a bit of the pressure that has been coming the way of the most expensive player in the world.

Today, at his press conference, ahead of the Europa League last-16 second leg tie against FC Rostov, Jose had a few words to say about the stick Pogba has been collecting from the press in recent days.

Jose, clearly rattled by the criticism had this to say,

‘I feel the world is losing balance. Envy coming to certain levels. I am scared for the next generation.

‘It’s not Paul’s fault he gets 10 times money and some ex-players need money. I and the club are very happy with Paul.’

Continuing, Jose further added,

‘He deserves respect.

‘He comes from a working family. They are giants. Mum and dad had to work hard. He fought for his career here.

‘He was not afraid to move. I am really worried with previous generation. Envy is everywhere.’

Hopefully Pogba can silence his critics with a man-of-the-match performance against FC Rostov.
