The world of finance, when it comes to football, has always thrown up such astronomical figures that want you to wince at and walk away from when shown them.

But there`s no doubting they form a very intricate part of the structure of the modern game and can determine whether a club thrives or struggles to keep its head above water.

Some figures came to light yesterday that prove the point I`m trying to make, about how the figures make you wince at their enormity.

Take these that are printed in the tabloid press as examples:-

Our daily wage bill is £480,000

This equates to £44.2 million a year

Or £5.50 every second

On another tangent:-

Our profits rose 12% to £50.2 million

Commercial revenue accounts for a third of all revenue

Match Day revenue accounts to 31.8%

Whilst broadcasting accounts for 36%

I`ll leave you to work out what those relative percentages are with regards to that profit!
