Money Is King These Days

There`s no doubting that the modern game is far removed from the sport we all grew up loving.

The days of it being a working-class sport have long gone, for top-flight clubs it is now a financial revenue stream whereby corporate clients are coveted, money i sing.

Already this season, we`ve been astounded by the fact that Manchester United secured the services of the Chilean forward, Alexis Sanchez, by agreeing to pay him a, reported, salary of £505,000 a week, a sum most of us find mind-boggling.

However, it seems that the trend of paying outrageous wages is set to continue.

The red-top publication, Daily Star on Sunday, is reporting that Manchester United are set to offer David de Gea a salary of £350,000 a week in order to keep the 27-year-old out of the clutches of Real Madrid.

It just makes me sigh and ponder over where it`ll all end or will the end come when the football bubble bursts?
