On Tuesday evening Manchester United will attempt to add the European Super Cup to their haul of trophies in the past twelve months.

If Manchester United are successful in their quest to win the European Super Cup, Jose Mourinho, since taking over at the managerial helm, will have won four trophies – Community Shield, League Cup, Europa League Final and the European Super Cup.

However, winning those four trophies doesn`t paper over the cracks.

Last season Manchester United still fell well short in the Premier League, finishing sixth, for the second season running, some distance behind the eventual winners Chelsea.

This season, Manchester United just have to do better, sixth for a third season on the trot will not suffice.

One of our talented squad, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, has spoken to the media, ahead of the game in Macedonia, about the need to improve, with Henrikh remarking,

“Being in the top four is not a good result for Manchester United. The result has always been to be in first place, or second minimum.”

I`d say second place would be a poor finish if it meant finishing behind our close neighbours Manchester City.

But we get your drift Henrikh, we get your drift.
