Despite the plethora of transfer speculation flooding the pages of numerous newspapers, the hard fact of the matter is that, so far, Manchester United have only made one big signing this summer – Memphis Depay.

The Dutch winger was identified as a summer target before the season ended and the deal was, once the season ended, wrapped up.

With the squad commencing pre-season training this week, Depay will get the chance to work in his new surroundings whilst also getting to know his team-mates as and when they return back from their summer breaks.

United supporters will be interested to see how quickly Depay settles in at his new club, but his former boss Phillip Cocu, at PSV Eindhoven, has no qualms about Deay being a big hit in his new environment remarking,

“Memphis has the ability to adapt because I saw that last season.

“He needs new challenges and to be pushed. He is ready for the next step.”

That is heartening to hear and all that remains is to see who else the club can confirm as new signings to boost a squad that was almost there-or-thereabouts last season.
