Today is a day that is etched in the history books at Old Trafford.

On 29th May 1968, at Wembley Stadium, Manchester United became the first English team to lift the European Club, under the managerial acumen of Sir Matt Busby.

In a thrilling final, against the Portuguese side Benfica, United triumphed 4-1 with Bobby Charlton scoring twice.

George Best and Brian Kidd were also on the score-sheet as that little part of North-West London became an honorary part of Manchester for the night.

Raise a glass or two tonight to the lads that served us so well that night and made history!
