The witchhunt against Sir Alex is gathering even more momentum: after daring to suggest that Andre Marriner got a few decisions wrong at Anfield (which he certainly did) he was crucified again, by the likes of that clown Jeff Winter and ‘unnamed sources’.

One man, Wigan manager Roberto Martinez, did not join in though, at least that’s what he says. Spanish daily AS published an interview with him in which he attacked Ferguson, saying he’s got a group of faithfuls who are there for him at all time – like Bruce or Allardyce (!!) – and that the FA almost apologised for charging him after his comments about Wiley.

Well, Martinez released a statement declaring that the comments attributed to him were false and that he now refers the matter to the League Managers’ Association. It’s good to hear: Martinez does not exactly strike me as the sort of person who would, without any reason, start lambasting Fergie and defending Benitez (which he supposedly did in that fake interview).
