Coming off the bench, in the 70th minute, to replace Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial was to go on to become Manchester United`s match-winner.

Although his finish was far from perfect, it was the goal that was to give Manchester United all three points in a clash between two heavyweight giants vying for the Premier League title.

Speaking to Sky Sports after notching the winner, Martial had this to say his contribution,

‘The manager told me to find space. I know that Lukaku is good with his head and I found the space and scored.

‘We lost the last game. It was important for us to win and I am happy to score.’

And when questioned about pushing for a regular starting place, Martial added,

‘No. Me I want to play. I don’t want to be on the bench. Rashford has been good too and the manager wants to give us a chance.’

As for Jose Mourinho, he had this to say about the young French strikers contribution,

‘Sometimes he starts the match and his contribution is good but he doesn’t score.

‘I don’t understand some reactions when people question ‘are they Red Devils’? The two strikers were up against amazing central defenders. some of the best in Europe.

‘Martial scores with a bad shot, but the bad shots can be the most beautiful.”

Today that was exactly the case.
