Marca: Cristiano Ronaldo to Sign for Al-Nassar

|

Portuguese outlet Marca and Sky Sports are reporting that former Manchester United player Cristiano Ronaldo will sign for Al-Nassr.

Reports have been circulating around on this transfer since the summer with Al-Nassr first offering Ronaldo a contract in the summer with one of the biggest wage bills ever in football.

Those reports deteriorated due to Ronaldo announcing he was staying at Old Trafford, however since the footballing great had the interview with Piers Morgan two weeks ago, that has changed everything.

With United also terminating his contract after the interview it was likely that he was going to be linked with most top clubs with Bayern Munich and Chelsea being the most interested alongside the Saudi Arabian club.

Although it would be a great signing for those clubs commercially, Ronaldo is not what he use to be in terms of quality on the pitch and teams like Chelsea and Bayern play a high-intensity brand of football which does not suit Cristiano anymore.

His wage bill is also another key factor to why he has not gone to a big club in Europe, with an excessively high wage bill five-time Ballon D’or winner looks like he would not take the big wage cut, which leaves Saudi Arabia his favoured destination.

Sky Sports are reporting that Ronaldo has agreed to sign a 2.5 million pound contract with Al-Nassr with the deal rising to possibly $200 million per season.

This would make CR7 the most-paid sports athlete ever.
