Manchester United’s Quest For A Centre-Back Is Set To Take An Unexpected Turn

|

Could Manchester United’s quest to sign a centre-back to partner Harry Maguire be set to take a very unexpected turn?

If the good folk of The Sun are correct that could very well be the case.

With our referenced source reporting that, unless players can be sold, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will have limited funds to spend in January, talk has emerged that Manchester United are considering an approach for the Leicester City centre-back, Jonny Evans.

Evans, now 32-years-of-age, is currently in the last year of his contract at the King Power Stadium and could be set for what would be an emotional return to Old Trafford.

Before leaving Manchester United, to join West Bromwich Albion, in 2015, Evans spent a decade at the club making 131 appearances.

Since leaving West Brom to join Leicester City, Evans has shown the kind of form that makes many question why he was sold in the first place.

Credence is also given to the possibility of an Evans return with our source providing quotes from a source at Old Trafford that read:

“Johnny’s name has come up in conversation.

“There are still a lot of people here who have plenty of time for him – and that includes Ole and Mike Phelan.”

So, could we see the return of somebody we once sold?

Nothing would surprise me in this game.
