With the modern-day footballer being paid so handsomely, especially if they are amongst the Premier League elite, time spent on the injury treatment table is something clubs would hope to avoid.

Reading through the sports pages of the popular tabloid publication The Sun as I strolled into work this morning I came across an interesting article.

It would appear, that when it comes to days lost through injury, in the Premier League, Manchester United, unfortunately lead the way.

Looking back to the start of the 2014 season, it appears that since then Manchester United have lost 4,096 days through players being injured.

In the past three-and-a-half seasons, Manchester United have suffered an incredible 187 injuries to their players.

If you turn that figure into a financial cost it`s calculated that Manchester United have had to play out £52 million to players who have been unavailable for selection through injury.

Mind-boggling figures if you ask me!
