Manchester United vs Reading Preview


Manchester United take on Championship side Reading on Saturday at 8’clock in the FA Cup fourth round.

United have progressed from nine of their 10 FA Cup ties against Reading, only failing in the third round in the 1926-27 season. [Google]

The link between these two teams are Paul Ince as he is the manager of the Royals, taking the job on as an interim manager in February 2022, keeping Reading up last year by four points he earnt himself the role of becoming the first team manager.

The away side’s last game in the FA Cup was in the third round against Watford where Ince’s side won 2-0 with Kelvin Abrefa and Shane Long scoring.

Their last league game was a 4-0 loss against Stoke, so they will look to bounce back against Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United.

United’s win in the third round was against fellow North West club, Everton with the Red Devils won 3-1.

Their last game was on Wednesday in the Carabao Cup where they beat Nottingham Forest 3-0 in the first leg of the Semi-Finals at the City Ground.

Reading have played Manchester United five times in the past 10 years, however all of those games have been played at Old Trafford.
