The results, for Manchester United, during the festive period so far, have been disappointing.

Ahead of fixtures away to Leicester and at home to Burnley, nobody would have envisaged that Manchester United would claim just two points out of the six available.

Today Manchester United have the opportunity to get back to winning ways when Southampton visit Old Trafford for a Premier League fixture.

With Manchester City leading the Premier League by a country mile, Manchester United need maximum points to keep hold of second-place and hope that Pep Guardiola and his side suffer the mother-of-all slip-ups in the second half of the season.

With Old Trafford filling up nicely, we are now able to bring you the team-sheets to peruse:

Manchester United – De Gea, Young, Jones, Lindelof, Shaw, Matic, Pogba, Mkhitaryan, Mata, Lingard, Lukaku

Subs – Romero, Rojo, Martial, Blind, Rashford, Herrera, Tuanzebe

Southampton – McCarthy, Stephens, Hoedt, Yoshida, McQueen, Ward-Prowse, Romeu, Hojbjerg, Tadic, Long, Boufal

Subs – Forster, Davis, Lemina, Gabbiadini, Redmond, Pied, Bednarek
