Manchester United Still Not Certain Where Defender Will Be Playing Next Season

|

Last month, here at Vital Manchester United, we ran an article suggesting that our out-of-favour centre-back, Chris Smalling, could be headed for Inter Milan.

Our article – manchester-united-defender-set-for-milan-move – covered the inference that Roma were not willing to meet the price Manchester United had put on the 30-year-olds head.

Since then we’ve heard nothing else on the subject and Smalling has been training, as you’d expect, with Manchester United but away from the main squad.

However, with the closure of the transfer window drawing nearer, it appears the deal could go ahead.

Our associates at The Sun, are of the opinion Antonio Conte still wants the player in his squad and a deal is being structured whereby Smalling would join Inter Milan on-loan with Milan paying his full weekly salary while also committing to an option to purchase the player at the end of the season.

It is also inferred that Roma would still like to retain Smalling but unlike their Serie A rivals, they are not prepared to pay his full weekly salary.

Hopefully, this is a deal that will get sorted sometime soon.
