In recent weeks, you cannot have failed, if you are a regular visitor to this site, have noticed the effort we’ve put in covering the plethora of media speculation linking the club with the acquisition of that top-class centre back we need.

For me, it’s been a pleasure to cover the speculation and I don’t consider that there is much chance of it coming to an end any time soon.

The reason I say that is because, lurking in the pages of the red-top publication, the Sun, is the inference that the very player I’d love to see brought in to solve the scenario, Kalidou Koulibaly, won’t be coming, unless United agree to not only exceed the current transfer record for a defender but smash it.

Our quoted source is reporting that Napoli have rejected a bid for 27-year-old Koulibaly, from United, of £95 million, an extraordinary amount.

Which begs me to ask the question, just how much do they want for the Senegalese international?

But what are your views on the subject matter?

Should United bale out now or should they continue to pursue Koulibaly however much he may cost?

Please feel free to air your views in the comment facility beneath this article.

  • That’s not good business for us. If Koulibaly is beyond 75,000 million, then we shiuld’nt run after him. We can’t always go for very expensive ready-made players. Ole’ should focus on identifying young talent within primier leaugue or other competive leagues. Should that happen,i see another Rio ferdnad, ronald, scholes, etc.We may not win premier league for one or two more other seasons but we need to keep identifying and bringing onboard talented players coz the tean needs that “man utd intimidating factor” on the pitch.

  • I think Man Utd should persevere and smash the transfer record for a defender. He will be a fantastic signing who will help plug the gaping hole at the back. It will also send out a strong statement about the club’s intention to get back to the very top.
A mixture of youth and experience has served Utd well in the past and that is what we should be aiming for again. Remember the Class of 92 which blended well with the likes of Cantona and Keane.

  • Kalido koulibaly is one of the best players in the world. He worth that money manutd must buy him.sell useless players like Roho,Jones,Young smalling,Sanchez, Damien, matic, degea, why are still having these useless players in our team

  • Opening bid of £95m rejected… wow. Diego Godin is a free agent. Sign him and one or two young centre backs to learn from him. That is far too much money for any player unproven in this league!
