A goal in each half was enough to give Manchester United a victory over Watford, at Old Trafford, yesterday.

The victory stretches Manchester United`s unbeaten run, in the Premier League to 16, with 9 of those games won and the other 7 drawn.

However, although the result lifted Manchester United up to fifth place in the Premier League, they slipped back down to sixth after Liverpool won their late afternoon fixture against Spurs.

Currently, Manchester United are a point adrift of our top-four finish rivals Liverpool and Manchester City, although the latter has a game in hand over us.

Against Watford Manchester United dominated but didn`t take the lead until the thirty-second minute when Anthony Martial marked his return to the starting eleven by providing the cross for Juan Mata to finish from close range.

Buoyed by the goal Manchester United looked to stretch their lead but were thwarted by the heroics of the Watford goalkeeper, Heurelho Gomes, who made fine saves to deny both Paul Pogba and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

But Martial. Making his first Premier league start since 15 January, wrapped up the three points on the hour mark when, after running at the Watford defence, he fired home.

Three more points in the pot and further pressure put on the teams above us.
