With an FA Cup semi-final appearance, against Everton, at Wembley this Saturday, Manchester United had the perfect warm-up against Crystal Palace.

It was essential that the three points were won to enable Manchester United to continue with their quest of a top four finish without picking up any serious injuries ahead of the Wembley date this Saturday.

As it turned out Manchester United took the three points available and moved to within a point of Arsenal, with just four games of the 2015 / 2016 Premier League season to play.

At Old Trafford last in front of a crowd that was given as just being a few hundred beneath capacity, but played out in front of swathes of empty seats.

Last night, when it came to winning the three points available, Manchester United were given a big helping hand when a cross into the danger area was sliced into his own net by Damien Delaney.

Manchester United were the dominant team and only a string of fine saves from Julian Speroni kept Crystal Palace in the game.

However, Manchester United were to double the lead when Matteo Darmian produced a wonderful finish, from just outside the area.

Game, set and match to Manchester United, now we all head of to Wembley for that crucial FA Cup semi-final against Everton, a side who were battered 4-0 by Liverpool last night in the Merseyside derby.
