Manchester United took the three points on offer in this Premier League fixture against Chelsea BUT Mourinho`s side didn`t have it all their own way.

In fact, for long periods of the game it has to be said that Chelsea looked to be the side in control.

The London side almost opened the scoring very early on when Alvaro Morata saw his effort rattle the bar with David de Gea beaten.

Manchester United were having trouble mounting any attacks of note with Chelsea having far more of the possession.

Just past the half-hour mark it was to be Chelsea that were to take the lead, A Manchester United attack broke down and Chelsea broke at pace with Willian feeding Eden Hazard, the Belgian international held the ball up well before sliding an inch-perfect pass through for Willian to close in on goal and beat De Gea, at his near post, with a powerful shot.

Thankfully, United did manger to respond and were level seven minutes later when some intricate passing around the edge of the area saw Romelu Lukaku presented with the chance to equalise, with the striker making no mistake.

The second half followed a similar pattern to that of the first-half with Chelsea having a lot of possession but without creating many chances. The closest they came to regaining the lead was a shot, from distance, from Drinkwater which de Gea collected at the second attempt.

With just fifteen minutes to go, Manchester United took the lead for the first time in the match when Jesse Lingard, on as a substitute, took advantage of some slack defensive work in the Chelsea defence to net.

Seeking to grab an equaliser, Manchester United had a bit of luck when an effort from Morata hit the net but the flag was up for offside, a second look showed that the Spaniard was just onside.

The win moves Manchester United bac up to second place in the Premier League table.
