Arriving at Old Trafford our opponents yesterday, Aston Villa, knew anything other than a win would condemn this proud club to relegation to the Championship.

With Manchester United desperate for the three points on offer to continue their quest for Champions League football next season, there was no room for sentiment.

As it turned out Manchester United, despite dominating Aston Villa, could only score the once, through Marcus Rashford, to keep those Champions League hopes alive whilst also condemning a club that has previously won the European Cup, to relegation.

The only goal of the game came when Rashford was on hand to sweep home a cross from Antonio Valencia.

Although Manchester United were comfortable, Aston Villa almost earned a share of the spoils when Rudy Gestede saw his volley crash against the post late on.

For Manchester United their next Premier League game is against Crystal Palace, at Old Trafford, on Wednesday evening, before we all head off to Wembley for an FA Cup semi-final against Everton next Saturday.
