With no apparent movement on the suggested Manchester United interest in Mario Mandzukic, the grapevine is suggesting that Manchester United may be switching their attentions towards a more familiar figure.

Several news vehicles are picking up on the possibility that Manchester United may capitalize on the Everton striker, b>Romelu Lukaku and his desire to move to a club that is expected to challenge for honours.

However, we suspect that the 22-year-old, if he is available, will come at a price. When Everton secured the Belgian striker on a permanent basis, signing him from Chelsea, they had to pay the enormous sum of £28 million, with Lukaku becoming their record buy.

Therefore, if he were to be sold on, due to his apparent unrest, the fee would probably be upwards of £30 million which, to me, seems a little too much for someone who didn`t get on the score-sheet as regularly as you`d have expected last season.

But then again when you recall the poor season Everton had last time out, then perhaps he wasn`t getting the service he needed. Perhaps it`s worth thinking back to when Lukaku wore the shirt of West Bromwich Albion and that famous occasion of Sir Alex Ferguson`s last day in charge of Manchester United, on that day Lukaku was a beast his power causing United all sort of problems and his hat-trick, that day, showed he had the potential to be a top class operative.

But can I see him in a Manchester United shirt next season, my initial thoughts are – NO!
