Oh thank God and Louis Saha that yesterday night did not turn out to be a major downer. After all, we lost Nani to a red card, Giggs to an injury and dropped two points at a desperately toothless Villa side who failed to threaten us at all despite their numerical advantage.

But Everton beat Chelsea 2-1 which allowed us to actually close the gap, thanks to Louis Saha’s brilliant brace – even though his performance is somewhat stained by the missed penalty. It means that Chelsea can reflect on the night as a missed opportunity: their game finished 15 minutes later than ours so they knew we had dropped points and yet could not capitalize on this and slumped to a deserved defeat.

Which means we have one of the more difficult fixtures out of the way with actually reducing Chelsea’s advantage, we seem to be in good form and full of confidence which was evident as we dominated with 10 men at Villa Park. This title race is well and truly on – I’m just praying we do not get crashed and burnt when we visit Everton next week, I’m praying that Louis Saha is, indeed, still a Red.
