The Premier League takes a step back this weekend as the FA Cup returns to hog the limelight.

For many it is a chance to take a break from the hullabaloo of the hardest league in the world to seek glory in the oldest domestic cup competition in the world.

Manchester United have been drawn, as you are most probably aware, away to the Championship side, Derby County.

It’s a tie that is fraught with danger, it has the potential to become a David and Goliath affair and for that reason, we suspect, is why if has been chosen by the BBC for live airing on Friday evening.

Derby County are, like us, on a poor run of form and have slipped back in the Championship promotion race, last night they suffered a heavy defeat at Turf Moor, losing 4-1 to Burnley.

You’d suspect, on paper, the tie represents the chance for Louis van Gaal to register the win that will not only see Manchester United get into the fifth round but also ease the pressure on his occupancy of the managerial role at Old Trafford.

But we all know the FA Cup isn’t like that is it!
