In Miami, in the early hours of the morning (UK time), Manchester United beat their old rivals, 3-1, to claim the International Champions Cup.

In front of over 50,000 spectators, at the Sun Life Stadium, home of the Miami Dolphins, United fell behind early on, in the 24th minute, when Steven Gerrard scored from the penalty spot.

United had to wait until the 55th minute before getting back on level terms, with the equalizer coming from Wayne Rooney.

Two minutes later United went ahead when our record signing, Juan Mata, scored. Now chasing the game, Liverpool were condemned to defeat in the closing minutes when Jesse Lingard scored a third for Manchester United.

It`s a first trophy for Manchester United under the stewardship of Louis van Gaal and it`s always pleasing to turn Liverpool over. With one trophy in the bag, hopefully this will provide the impetus for United to go on and win some more this coming season!
