Next season, one of our batch of promising youngsters is hoping that he`ll get the chance to shine at Old Trafford.

After scoring the late winner for the England U21 side in the Euro 2015 Finals in the Group B game against Sweden, Jesse Lingard finds himself in the spotlight.

Last season, in the very first game of the reign of Louis van Gaal against Swansea, Lingard was unfortunate enough to pick up a bad ankle injury that kept him on the side-lines.

When he had recovered from injury, Lingard spent the second half of the season on loan at the Championship club, Derby County.

However, as you`d expect, he is very much hoping that the 2015 / 2016 season will see him become a regular in the Manchester United first team squad, talking about just that Lingard has remarked to the media,

“I kept in contact with Luis van Gaal last season and he was guiding me and giving me confidence.

“I`m now looking to stay at United and get games under my belt there.

“I`ll see what the boss says when I get back.

“I`ve always wanted to play for United and that`s still my ambition.

“Scoring goals like this only helps. I`ll never know where I would be now if I hadn`t got that injury.”

That is a fair point although I suspect that with the raft of talent at Old Trafford, some having been bought in at great expense, it is going to be hard for Lingard to get the break he needs. He may be kept at Old Trafford for the start of the 2015 / 2016 season but don`t be too surprised if he goes out on loan for the second half of the season again.
