Stoke’s interest in Phil Jones has been confirmed with Arsenal said to be ‘monitoring the situation’ but both will be left disappointed as the England international isn’t leaving United this month.

Mark Hughes wouldn’t be drawn on interest in Jones when questioned at the weekend but his assistant Mark Bowen has since confirmed Stoke’s intentions to try and sign him before next weeks transfer deadline.

Other speculation has said Jose Mourinho, which is understandable, wouldn’t entertain the notion of allowing Jones to join his rival Arsene Wenger at Arsenal so even if he wanted that move he wouldn’t get it.

Jones hasn’t been involved under Mourinho this season but the Guardian has reported the 24-year-old is happy at Old Trafford with the United boss also informing him that he does remain part of his first-team plans.

As such Jones isn’t going anywhere!
