It’s Time To Derail Liverpool’s Premier League Title Hopes Folks

|

Tomorrow (Sunday), Manchester United welcome Liverpool, to Old Trafford, for a crucial Premier League fixture.

It is a fixture of huge importance for both sides.

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer will be looking for his side to continue their fine Premier League form, since the Norwegian took over, to push for that top-four finish that will guarantee Champions League football next season.

Jurgen Klopp, in charge of Liverpool, will be hoping that his side can step out into what will be a volatile atmosphere, at Old Trafford, to claim a win that will keep his side hot-on-the-heels of Manchester City with the two clubs being level on points although City do have a game in hand.

For Manchester United supporters, nothing would give them greater pleasure than for their side to win and watch Liverpool slip out of title contention (again).

Although such a result would surely see our noisy-neighbours retain the Premier League title, it really is, I feel, the better of the two options.

After all, can Liverpool really call themselves one of the greats of the modern-game if they’ve failed to win a Premier League title since the inception of the restyled top-flight?

Ahead of the game and as reported by the BBC, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer, at his pre-match press conference, has remarked:

“I’m focusing on us and what we have to do to get to where we want to be. It’s a three-horse race for the title and fourth, that’s my focus.

“I played a few of these games against Liverpool myself and know the magnitude of it for the fans and everyone who works here.”

The record books show that Manchester United have a good home record against Liverpool, the last 9 fixtures have produced 7 wins, 1 draw and just the 1 defeat, here’s hoping that record can be maintained on Sunday, there’s nothing better than seeing a few thousand disgruntled Liverpool supporters leaving Old Trafford.
