It’s Mission Accomplished For Manchester United But At A Huge Price

|

Has the world gone stark, raving mad?

I blame Paris Saint-Germain and their signing of Neymar you know, they started the ball rolling!

I’m struggling to comprehend the fact that Manchester United have agreed to pay Leicester City, as reported by The BBC, for Harry Maguire.

Okay, I’m not denying that the heart of the Manchester United defence required strengthening, but have things got so desperate that the club hierarchy saw fit to establish a new world record transfer fee for a defender.

Does it smack of desperation stakes when it comes to filling that void?

£80 million is an awful lot of cash for the 26-year-old England international and I can’t help but feel there will be an awful lot of pressure on Maguire to show that he is worth that fee, it’s not the kind of pressure I’d certainly like to work under.

But the deal appears to have been done and, here at Vital Manchester United, all we can do is get behind Maguire and make him feel welcome playing for our great club.

All that remains now is to see who Ole Gunnar Solkjaer decides to play alongside our £80 million star signing!

Anyway, I’ll console myself with the fact that its only money

Maguire is a good defender but 1. he s 20-30 million over-priced and 2. so much for the academy, Axel Tuanzebe should be stepping straight in to that position next to lindelof.
