And so the curtain came down on Edwin van der Sar`s career in not exactly the style he wanted.

But, Edwin, as they say, had a good innings and can reflect on some wonderful times in his United career.

Reflecting on Saturday night and the defeat at the hands of a very good Barcelona team, Edwin had this to say,

“I`m quite relaxed, as s*** happens.”

“It would have been great to have gone out with a win, but it didn`t happen.”

“We`re disappointed, but that`s life – sometimes you win, sometimes you lose.”

“But this is the right time for me to retire, and I`m happy with my decision.”

And as for the future, Edwin looks set to return to Holland, further remarking,

“I`ve taken coaching badges here in England, but I`m not sure if I will finish them.”

“I`ve put myself forward to do that in Holland as well, but I think I want to take a year out right now.”

“I want to watch games with friends on a Saturday and have a nice meal, then watch a Sunday game, play golf and have family time.”

Here at Vital Manchester United we wish Edwin all the best and thank him for everything he done for us!
