We’ll never have a full squad at our disposal, it seems. We have three players who are definitely out of the rest of the season – Anderson, O’Shea and Owen – and there are always one or two players with niggles.

Right now Evans, Brown and Giggs are all out, with Rafael and Scholes adding to the casualty list this weekend. Even if Giggs recovers, as expected, we’ll have a ridiculously thin squad for the visit of Liverpool.

And again, we have serious problems in defence: Rafael, Evans, Brown and O’Shea all look set to miss the Liverpool game so we’ll be stuck with Gary Neville once again and though he’s performed admirably in the last two games, I’m just unable to relax even for a second when he’s on the pitch.

Pray to the gods that Rooney, Ferdinand, Vidic, Fletcher and Carrick will all remain fit because an injury to any of them would be disastrous. Not unexpected, though, unfortunately.
