This was of course Paul Pogba’s ‘second debut’ for United as the world record signing from Juventus came through the full 90-minutes of the win against Southampton on Friday.

A match the Frenchman impressed in during a two-nil win at Old Trafford.

Pogba made it clear he was ready for involvement after being forced to miss the Bournemouth match due to suspension and Jose Mourinho said he would be involved.

I think we all expected this to be the case and as a starter as it was.

Questioned by Sky Sports as to how he felt after the match he was clearly delighted with his performance and United’s overall as he said.

‘It was great. My first debut and we win. I am very happy coming back home, I hope to continue winning and getting better and better. I feel very good, at the end I was a little tired, but my legs feel good. I think the first 20 minutes we started slowly, but our quality showed after and that is what we can do.’

We’ll be hoping for much, much more of the same (and better even) from the 23-year-old.
