Forty-eight hours ago, it was Raphael Varane who was being mentioned as the player Real Madrid would have to sacrifice if they wanted to finally land David de Gea.

Today, if a move is to occur that takes de Gea to the Bernabeu, although we`re not sure such a thing is going to happen, the good folk of the The Sun are reporting that Jose Mourinho will ask for a different player.

With the relationship between the two clubs not at its best, following the Alvaro Morata saga, Mourinho is ready to counteract any offer for de Gea insisting that the German midfielder, Toni Kroos, comes the other way.

Kroos, 27-years-of-age, is a key component of the Real Madrid midfield and the Spanish giants would be reluctant to part company.

With the two clubs set to go head-to-head in the UEFA European Super Cup Final, on August 8th, could the current status quo have changed by then?

We can but wait and see!
