Back in the tail end of last season when Zlatan Ibrahimovic suffered that bad knee injury, it was feared that the Swedish striker would be out of action for at least nine months.

The supposed length of his absence went a long way in the decision being made, by both parties, not to sign another contract at Old Trafford.

However, as we`ve reported over the past few weeks, it is looking increasingly likely that the 35-year-old will become a Manchester United player again, as soon as he`s fit.

Today, it is being reported, by the news vehicle, ESPN, that contract could be signed as early as this week.

Just four months are sustaining the injury, Ibrahimovic has amazed the medical staff with the speed of his recovery, proving you just can`t keep a good man down.

Quite where Ibrahimovic would fit into a starting eleven that has started the 2017 / 2018 Premier League season in fine style, remains to be seen.

But just having someone of his ability available would be a tremendous bonus to the club.
