With the game threatening to peter out into a draw, with the result being settled by a penalty shoot-out farce, Zlatan Ibrahimovic settled the result in style, in Manchester United`s favour.

Out-muscling Wes Morgan at the back-post, the 34-year-old Swedish striker produced a powerful header to beat Kasper Schmeichel and the Community Shield belonged to Manchester United.

The Swedish striker, recruited in the summer, now has two goals to his name since joining Manchester United, from Paris Saint-Germain, appears to be settling in nicely ready for the commencement of the 2016 / 2017 season next weekend when Manchester United face AFC Bournemouth in their first fixture.

After the win over Leicester City, in the Community Shield, Zlatan has this to say to the media,

“It feels good the first official game, we play for the trophy and win. That`s what it`s all about – winning trophies.

“This is my 31st trophy and I`m super happy.

“This is why I came and, hopefully I can win much more than this.

“Something big is going on with our team. We begin with a trophy, so it`s a good start.

“The coach wants to win and does everything to win.

“The club, outside the team, is probably the biggest club I have played in.”

Yes it is, but two goals is a start that has us all licking our lips in anticipation that the Swedish striker could play a key role in our chase for the title.
