Any hopes Manchester United had of finally landing Mats Hummels appear to have faded.

The 26-year-old German 2014 World Cup winner, repeatedly linked with a move to Old Trafford for the last six months or so, has decided that perhaps the grass wouldn`t be greener elsewhere and has decided to stay at Borussia Dortmund rather than come to the Premier League.

In discussing the decision made by the centre-back, the Borussia Dortmund General Manager, Michael Zorc, is quoted in the press as having remarked about his defenders situation,

“It was legitimate that Mats was thinking about his future but I always pointed out that we were planning with him.”

It remains to be seen whether any deal is dead of whether it could be resurrected later this summer, my opinion is that it will be more a case of the former and that it is now time to look elsewhere.
