It`s a story that has been bubbling along all summer, namely the possibility of a mega-signing by Manchester United.

Rumours, emanating from within Old Trafford, have suggested that money is no object with regards to David Moyes recruiting for the coming season.

Much of the speculation has surrounded two players, the first being Cristiano Ronaldo and the second being Gareth Bale.

With regards to the former, it`s now deemed highly unlikely that Ronaldo will be leaving Real Madrid this summer.

This morning the focus has switched firmly back on Gareth Bale with the Daily Mirror championing an exclusive whereby they`re predicting that United are set to try and tempt Spurs into selling their prize asset for a United club record fee of £60 million.

Now whether Spurs have any intention of selling the Welsh star now will once again come to the forefront of any possible progress on a deal.

Personally, although the club may harbour ambitions of Gareth Bale becoming the first major signing of the Moyes era, I can`t really see it happening, can you?
