Question marks about the future of Sir Alex Ferguson, if we do end the season without a trophy have brought a unique response from the opposition manager.

Martin O`Neil, looking to finish with a win at the Stadium of Light, had this to say to the media about Sir Alex and possible retirement, commenting,

“I don`t pretend to know Sir Alex well, but I think he will leave Manchester United when he feels it`s right, not because of a setback.”

“People are asking if Sir Alex will lose he hunger, ambition and determination to come back and reclaim the top spot but to even suggest this would be tantamount to heresy.”

“He`ll have that until he`s 98 and he may still be manager when he`s 98 with five European Cups on top of that. Those are the things the man certainly does not lack. Setbacks only make him madder.”

Okay! I know he`s exaggerating to make a point but the thought of 98 year old Sir Alex chewing manically on the touch-line and barking out orders did make me smile.
