Several times, this summer, I`ve intimated that although Southampton are keen to sign Javier Hernandez I doubted whether he`d be interested in moving to the Hampshire club.

Well it would seem that if persistence were a virtue then Hernandez would already be a Southampton player!

Once again the transfer gossip, in the Sunday press, is inferring that the new Southampton manager, Ronald Koeman, isn`t going to let up in his pursuit of the Mexican striker.

Furthermore, it`s now revealed that United have given Southampton permission to talk to Hernandez`s representatives and the task of selling the south-coast clubs ambitions to Javier is well underway.

If Southampton are successful then it is suggested that the transfer fee will be in the region of £9.5 million.
