Owen Hargreaves is yet to play more than three games for United this season but he’s confident that injuries won’t destroy his season.

The former Bayern man, signed in the summer, arrived with expectations that he should be the midfield enforcer that we sometimes lack, especially away from home. He played quite well when he was on the pitch but as it only happened three times, it’s fair to say he did not make much an impression so far.

After knee and groin injuries, the 26-year-old is on the road to recovery and hopes against all hope that there will be no further problems.

‘I hope this is it for me injury-wise. I have missed enough games,’ he told The Sun.

‘I’ve been involved with football for quite a while and know injuries are part of the game but I’ve tried to take more precautions as I’ve got older.’

Hopefully we’ll see the result of being cautious. His game is honest, going into challenges totally committed, like Bryan Robson and that’s why he’ll always be prone to injuries. But I hope he can fulfil the role we expect of him…. and sincerely hope he’ll be ready for the Arsenal game because we’ll need him there.
