For the first time since his operations, Owen Hargreaves seems ready for first-team football. That’s what Sir Alex Ferguson said and for the first time ever, he set an exact return date for Hargreaves.

The Calgary-born man is pencilled in for next Thursday’s Reserves league game against Manchester City which means that don’t get excited, he won’t be at Wolves tomorrow and it’s very unlikely that he’ll play against Fulham next Sunday.

But still. He could, if I’m optimistic, be on the bench against Liverpool. He could feature in as many as 8 league games. He could show that he’s still alive, that he’s still a footballer, that he still wants to wear the Manchester United shirt. And that’s so much more than I’ve been hoping for recently…

Is this the light at the end of the tunnel? Hopefully, yes. And hopefully, the light isn’t the train speeding towards us…
