There were a number of great performances from United players tonight but there’s one man who surely deserves a mention: John O’Shea.

Last season he wasn’t very effective in front of goal but now he’s returned to the match-winning ways of 2006/07 – remember his goal at Anfield and at Goodison, both proving vital in the title race?

Tonight, on the eve of his 28th birthday, he dealt comfortably with Diaby (not that he offered anything remotely dangerous) and Nasri when he tried to probe us in wide areas. And of course he converted his only chance which our brilliant attackers weren’t capable of.

Happy birthday, John O’Shea, it’s clear you’re still a deadly finisher!
