International games aside, rumours remain strongly club-linked. Even during this busy week of travelling to distant countries, the transfer speculation does not stop so let’s have a look at the most interesting United stories.

Owen Hargreaves is concentrating on his recovery rather than his possible move to United while his club Bayern Munich have ruled out any January sales so our hopes of getting him are fading fast.

‘Manchester United have been very open in the fact they would like to sign me but the most important thing is for me to get healthy.’ said Hargreaves.

‘It’s a great honour and we’ll see what happens.’

United and Liverpool are reportedly interested in Rio Mavuba. The Bordeaux midfielder is unhappy about his side’s poor form because he wants to get fight his way into the French national team.

‘When you are not in one of the top teams, it is much more difficult to get in the French team,’ he said.
‘I love Les Girondins and I can’t give up, but I am upset to be playing in the middle of the table.

‘A possible transfer? We will see. I am thinking about it with my entourage, but if I have opportunities at the end of the season, I will have a look.
‘I would have appreciated more credit at Bordeaux.’

Marek Hamsik of Brescia is delighted to hear about all the top clubs’ interest. The 19-year-old midfielder has been linked with United, Chelsea and Real Madrid in recent weeks but so far he’s happy to play in Serie B as he had thought he would warm the bench.

“Of course I am happy that scouts from such clubs come here to watch me, but scouting means nothing,” said the Slovakian.

“Before the season started it seemed I would be warming the bench, but I have missed none of the last five games.”
