I can’t think of a really inventive introduction right now so let’s get it started!

I’ll eat my words on two fronts right now: I promised I would not write about Ronaldo and it won’t even be a rumour. The thing is, that our flashy Portuguese declared he wasn’t a ‘Galactico’ and therefore it’s pointless for Real to try to sign him. Well said, Ron, and I love his ambitions: he wants to leave his mark on the club’s history. Hopefully it will not lead to a ridiculously over-inflated ego (Samuel Eto’o anyone?)

The mentioned striker had been linked to United before but this issue is quiet now unlike another the rumour of another attacker, Raffaele Palladino of Juventus. The guy scored a hat-trick against Triestina on Monday in the Serie B and while that’s not exactly a mean feat, it’s worth mentioning that he’s a big fan of Cristiano Ronaldo.

‘Whenever I can, I watch Manchester United games on TV. Ronaldo is my role model,’ said Palladino but to be honest, Cristiano is good for anything but being a role model.

Eidur Gudjohnsen is closer to that term but we should not open a debate about his professionalism as the rumours round him are much more interesting: the former Chelsea striker is once again linked with us. The Reds tried to sign him in the summer but José and Roman decided it would be dangerous to sell him to a bitter domestic rival so they opted for selling to a bitter continental rival, Barcelona where he didn’t exactly set the world on fire. A transfer back to England would not be shocking but I can’t see him coming to Old Trafford.

Well, that’s all for now. Imagine a 4-2-4 line-up for next year, with Rooney and Ronaldo as wide attackers and Palladino and Gudjohnsen as centre-forwards. Interesting, isn’t it?
